Story Listening Activity Grade 6-12

Objective: Improve students’ listening skills by understanding and responding to a short story.

Instructions for Students:
  1. Listen Carefully:

    • I will read a short story aloud. Focus on understanding the main events and key details.
  2. Take Notes (optional):

    • You can jot down important points, words you don’t understand, or any key events.
  3. First Listening:

    • Listen to the entire story without stopping. Try to understand the general idea.
  4. Second Listening:

    • This time, listen for specific details, such as characters, places, or actions.
  5. Post-Listening Activity:

    • Answer a few comprehension questions about the story (multiple choice or open-ended).
    • Discuss the main events with a partner.
  6. Oral Feedback:

    • Share one interesting part of the story that you remember.
