Top tips for note-taking
- The first step in note-taking is to identify the main ideas and the supporting details. Listen to signalling devices that your teacher may use to signal animportant idea such as firstly, secondly, another important point is let’s move to the next reason, etc.
Supporting details are usually examples or sub-categories or a further definition or elaboration of the main idea. Your teacher may signal with a phrase such as- - For example, for instance, the two categories are…they are divided into…,
- Do not write the important ideas in complete sentences. Write only key words and use telegraphic or SMS language. e.g. 5 reasons of 1 W.war, B2B comm,
- Use symbols like- @- at , at the rate of , &- and , + in Addition to, = Means, in the same, // parallel
- Learn to condense your notes, abbreviate worlds like- Development = dvlpmnt , Technology=technlogy, Business=bzns
- Organize the points using decimal numbers.
