Active Voice And Passive Voice, Basic Rules.

English For CBSE And Other Boards

Hi there,

Hopefully, your weekend would be fantastic. Today, I will be discussing another important topic, Voice ( Active And passive). You will find all rules and exceptions with examples and Practice Sets.

Passive voice

Passive Voice means that a subject is a recipient of a verb’s action. You may have learned that the passive voice is weak and incorrect, but it isn’t that simple. When used correctly and in moderation, the passive voice is fine.

In English grammar, verbs have five properties: voice, mood, tense, person, and number; here, we are concerned with voice. The two grammatical voices are active and passive.

Some basic rules to transform a sentence from Active Voice into Passive Voice.

  • We exchange Subject and Object from each other.
  • We use the third form of the given verb.
  • Before the verb, we use Form Of Verb To Be of the same tense [tense of Active Voice.]
